| The Stubachtal Valley is described as one of the most beautiful Tauern valleys. The name "Stubach" goes back to "stäubenden Wasser" (sprinkling water). The valley has 18 lakes, 25 glaciers, 25 Alpine pastures and a total length of 18 km. In 13 sharp bends you’ll drive from Uttendorf (804m) to the Enzingerboden (1,480m). The road was built from 1921 - 1926 and redeveloped from 1997 - 1999. When driving up to the Enzingerboden you’ll notice the many walls and rocks that were shaped by the glacier. The valley was filled with ice for many thousands of years. Along the road you’ll encounter numerous interesting cultural sights like the "Wiedrechtshausen" farm with a sundial dating back to the 18th century, numerous small waterfalls, wonderful panoramic views into the glacier region, a beautiful deciduous forest, the "Dorfer Öd" nature reserve etc. |
